The never-ending saga regarding the New York Knicks and their once franchise cornerstone Carmelo Anthony may finally be close to reaching a resolution.
Amid an endless wave of rumors that have surrounded Anthony and the Knicks for what seems like the better part of the past 2 years things seem to be finally settling to a conclusion.
Anthony, 33, has been willing to waive his no-trade clause for Houston and Cleveland but recently has prioritized a move out West to join the Rockets.
With a lot of moves recently in regards to the Knicks front office, which has been in shambles over the past several weeks, it’s fair to assume that the organization has slowed those trade discussions.
Houston and New York were hoping that the Portland Trailblazers would act as a third team to help facilitate a trade, but the Blazers are now targeting a trade for Anthony with a belief that the addition of Anthony would provide depth that could help them compete with Western Conference powerhouses like the Golden State Warriors.
Blazers’ guard CJ McCollum posted a photo of Anthony in a Trailblazers jersey on his Instagram account, in an obvious recruiting effort.
ESPN’s report indicates that Houston is determined to complete a deal for Anthony and believes he is focused on playing with the Rockets next season according to their league sources.
Anthony heading to Houston seems to be a foregone conclusion at this time and the addition of Anthony would make the Rockets a Western Conference Finals favorite and a true challenge to the NBA Champion Golden State Warriors.
