Forget the Z! – SportsRantz Announces Acquisition of sportsrants.com

4 Min Read

As the SportsRantz brand continues to grow and evolve I have made it my mission to acquire other sports brands that will help us continue on our path towards becoming the ultimate community for sports talk. Last month we announced the acquisition of SportsRant.com which was, for around a decade, an extremely popular and interactive sports forum.

Today, after many months of negotiations, I am honored to announce that we have acquired sportsrants.com. Originally a sports article posting site that thrived in the early 2000’s, it fell by the wayside in the past few years and became a “dead” website.

How does this effect you? It won’t directly, it just makes it easier for people to get to our site and if you’re a blogger on our site, it makes it easier for people to get to your blog too.

Since I launched the SportsRantz website in early 2011, we would from time to time hear that people were often confused with the “Z” at the end of our name. Sometimes, people would naturally put in “sportsrants.com” and end up on the “dead” site. You can imagine that most people would assume we were a dead site ourselves.

Putting a “Z” at the end of our name has been a somewhat challenging branding process. Some of you will notice that most of our radio ads and show openers at SportsRantz Radio usually come with the line “that’s SportsRantz….with a Z“. Needless to say it’s been a bit daunting to brand and I know that people sometimes confuse SportsRantz with SportsRants, especially when hearing about our site via word of mouth.

So now, we can confidently say “Forget the Z!“. No matter if you type in SportsRantz.com OR sportsrants.com you will get to the site.

Furthermore this allows us to embark on a branding journey that will allow us to brand our company without having to worry that people may misspell our name and end up at the wrong place.

By purchasing SportsRants, it will bring traffic from the old website to the new website, improve our power in the search engines and help make our blogs on SportsRantz more popular than they already are,

Many of you who I have had the pleasure to speak to at length about my vision for this understand a little bit about my passion for this and what I want to accomplish.

This, like the acquisition of SportsRant.com, is just the tip of the iceberg of new and exciting things coming to the site. Thank you all for joining our movement, engaging in our community and embarking on this fantastic journey with us as we push towards a future with no limit on potential.

For now though, let’s have some fun, let me know what you think we should do with our brand as we move forward.

How Should SportsRantz be Branded?
