NFL Week Three: Winners and Losers

3 Min Read

Week three saw great performances and a few shockers, here are my winners and losers.

Winners:

  1. Buffalo Bills: Running back LeSean McCoy rushed for 110 yards and two touchdowns. Quarterback Tyrod Taylor rushed for a touchdown. The defense caught three interceptions and had five sacks as the Bills get a much needed win against the Arizona Cardinals 33-18.
  2. Green Bay Packers: Quarterback Aaron Rodgers threw for four touchdowns as the Packers bounced back and defeat the Detroit Lions 34-27.
  3. Denver Broncos: Quarterback Trevor Siemian threw for 312 yards and four touchdowns as the Broncos defeated the Cincinnati Bengals 29-17.
  4. Minnesota Vikings: The defense had eight sacks and caught three interceptions as the Vikings upset the Carolina Panthers 22-10. Great performance the Vikes’ defense on the road.
  5. Washington Redskins: The defense came through late helping the Redskins defeat NFC East rival New York Giants 29-27.
  6. Philadelphia Eagles: In another surprise, quarterback Carson Wentz threw for 301 yards and two touchdowns as the Eagles dominated the Pittsburgh Steelers 34-3. The Eagles might just be for real after all.
  7. Atlanta Falcons: Running back Tevin Coleman rushed for three touchdowns. Quarterback Matt Ryan threw for 240 yards and two touchdowns as the Falcons pulled away from the Saints 45-32. At 2-1, the Falcons now sit in first place in the NFC South.

Losers:

  1. Houston Texans: Despite having the time of possession advantage and more first downs, turnovers stalled drives as they were shutout by the New England Patriots 27-0.
  2. Arizona Cardinals: Quarterback Carson Palmer threw three interceptions and was sacked five times in their loss to Buffalo.
  3. Cincinnati Bengals: Costly turnovers were the Bengals’ undoing in their loss to Denver.
  4. New York Giants: Quarterback Eli Manning’s interception late took away a chance for a Giants win in their loss to Washington.
  5. New York Jets: Quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick had six interceptions in the Jets’ loss to the Kansas City Chiefs 24-3.
  6. Carolina Panthers: Quarterback Cam Newton threw for three interceptions and was sacked eight times in the Panthers’ loss to Minnesota. The loss snapped their 14-game home winning streak.
  7. Pittsburgh Steelers: Turnovers and having only 29 rushing yards burnt the Steelers in their loss to Philadelphia.
