Redskins To Sign Center John Sullivan

1 Min Read

The Washington Redskins are dealing with the injuries that has ravaged their offensive line and have placed starting center Kory Lichtensteiger on injured reserve, creating another hole and a big need for the team.

Washington will sign veteran center John Sullivan. Sullivan was released by Minnesota in August after missing last season following a lumbar microdiscectomy prior to the 2015 season opener.

A former 6th-round pick out of Notre Dame, Sullivan became Minnesota’s starting center in his second season. A well regarded run blocker, Sullivan started all but three games between 2009 and 2014.

Lichtensteiger, who has been the Redskins’ starter since 2013, missed 11 games last season because of nerve damage in his shoulder. He injured his calf early in the third quarter of Sunday’s 29-27 win over the New York Giants and did not return to action.
