The frustrations surrounding the play of the Miami Dolphins, on both sides of the ball, boiled over this week, at least in regards to head coach Adam Gase. Gase is still seething about how his team has played thus far in the season, a season in which the Dolphins are 1-2.
“I’m over discussing any of this stuff with players,” Gase said per the Miami Herald. “We’re either going to start getting the job done, or we’re going to make changes.”
Gase isn’t playing around. He benched former 1st round pick and starting right tackle Ja’Wuan James in the 4th quarter for getting beat badly on a rush which resulted in strip sack on the Dolphins’ final drive of the fourth quarter. The Browns would have won the game had they not missed the field goal attempt that followed.
“We just want guys to do it right,” Gase said. “Whoever wants to do it right, those are the guys that we’re going to put out there. Talent’s irrelevant at this point.”
“In the NFL, if you don’t do your job, they’re going to find a replacement,” Miami cornerback Byron Maxwell said. “It’s a lot of guys that want to do your job and want to do the right thing.”
“They’re going to make whatever decisions they want to make, they need to make. It doesn’t make a difference how we feel about it. We’re paid to play” said guard Jermon Bushrod.
Wide receiver Jarvis Landry believes that Gase said what needed to be said, telling NFL Network reporter Tiffany Blackmon the following:

It will be interesting to see how the Dolphins respond as they head to Thursday Night Football and a showdown with the Cincinnati Bengals.
“I think we’ve got a lot of improvement to make,” Gase said. “The good thing is we get to line up and do it again on Thursday.”
We’ll see if any players ride the pine and how much patience Gase has for the underwhelming play of quarterback Ryan Tannehill.
