Fantasy Football Buy Low/Sell High Players: Week 7

8 Min Read

We are through 6 weeks of the NFL season & the fantasy season. Some people may be happy & content sitting at a record of 5-1 with a guy like David Johnson or others might be 2-4 & desperate to make any moves that will stop them from crying. For me I am 3-3 in my league with a group of friends & I had gotten Odell Beckham Jr. in a trade before this past week & he ends up getting me 40 points against the guy who traded me OBJ (it’s a full point PPR league) & that led me to improving my record to 3-3. Even after that trade I’m always open to hear any offers because I’ve always gone by the motto: Anyone is available for the right price.  There are players that can be bought for cheaper than their actual value in my opinion & there’s other players who should be sold because people have become too high on them. Remember when I talk about point totals it is based on PPR scoring.

Buy Lows:

Deandre Hopkins (WR, Texans): Yes, he is still a buy low option at WR. The only reason he is on here for me is because he is too talented to not get better right? Now I have my doubts of him improving much because of the fact that Brock Osweiler is his QB. Hopkins’ best week was in Week 2 scoring 24 points but has slowed down a bit in other weeks & also didn’t do much against a weak Colts secondary in Week 6 scoring 16 points which isn’t terrible but doesn’t make up for the fact he was a 1st round pick in majority of leagues. Hopkins does have a favorable schedule though after this week against Denver (Lions in Week 8, Bye in Week 9, Jags in Week 10, Raiders in Week 11, Chargers in Week 12).

Allen Robinson (WR, Jaguars): Here’s another talented WR that is a buy low option because of bad QB play on his team. Blake Bortles has struggled mightily & therefore has caused Robinson to be put on this list. Robinson was the 4th highest scoring WR in 2015 only behind Antonio Brown, Julio Jones, & Brandon Marshall. This year Robinson has only had 2 weeks of scoring 16+ points & in the other 3 weeks he’s combined for just 28 points. Allen Robinson was drafted early in the 2nd round in most leagues. I currently have Allen Robinson in one of my leagues but I am waiting until after this week to decide if I should sell him or not. If you want to buy low on Robinson this might be the last week to do so as he plays the Raiders in Week 7 who have given up the 4th most points to opposing WRs.

C.J Anderson (RB, Broncos): Anderson has been very disappointing since his big Week 1 performance of 29 points against the Panthers. Since then Anderson has had only 3 other games of 10+ points & the other 2 he had a combined total of just 13 points. Most people drafted C.J Anderson in hopes of getting RB1 stats out of him but it hasn’t shown yet. I still think there’s room for him to improve especially if Trevor Siemian can start to air the ball downfield like he was before getting injured which would open up the running game some more. Now if you are one of the people buying low on C.J Anderson I would advise you to also pick up Devontae Booker (Owned in only 29.8% of leagues) to handcuff Anderson in case of injury or if Broncos change RBs for some reason.

Sell Highs:

Melvin Gordon (RB, Chargers): As of now Gordon is the 5th leading fantasy RB but I do not see him keeping it up. Hear me out. In Week 6 Gordon ran for 97 yards on 27 carries for a 3.59 yards per carry average which actually rose his YPC average up to a 3.4 on the season. With a 3.4 yards per carry he is 32nd in the NFL out of 39 RBs eligible to be ranked for yards per carry. Melvin Gordon is also the 5th leading fantasy back because he’s scored 7 touchdowns already. Seven more than last season. I see his TD production coming down & I don’t see his yards per carry getting much better in an offense that still seems to revolve around the passing game therefore he is a guy I’m trying to get very good value for because I don’t see him staying as a top 5 fantasy RB the rest of the season.

Jordan Howard (RB, Bears): I’ve been one of the recipients of getting some solid fantasy points from Howard but it might be time to part ways with him (PLEASE LEAVE ME ALONE TO CRY). Jordan Howard has scored 63 points in the 4 weeks he has started since Jeremy Langford has been hurt. Now every week we will be asking: Is Jeremy Langford going to be back? Is he going to take carries away from Howard? The answer to the first question is unknown but I believe it may be a yes on the 2nd question. Now if it were me I saw enough to say Howard is the starter moving forward but I believe the Bears will have at least a somewhat split workload once Langford comes back. It might be time to part ways with one of the fantasy gems of 2016 especially if you can bring in a legitimate RB1 in return or even a solid WR1 or WR2.

Terrance West (RB, Ravens): I don’t think West’s value is going to be any higher than it is right now. West is coming off a 27 point performance against the Giants in Week 6 but there’s always the fact that Kenneth Dixon could step into the starting role if West struggles at any point this season. Dixon is a rookie running back that came back from injury 2 weeks ago so it was expected that he’d slowly be worked into the offense because the Ravens love him. West has scored 55 points in the 3 weeks he’s started this season which is solid & Dixon has only gotten 7 touches in the 2 games he’s been active in but I believe his workload will increase week by week. I would try to hurry up & try to trade West especially if someone is over valuing him for a WR2 or if you can package him to upgrade at the RB position.
