Jets’ Brandon Marshall Compares Season To Sitting In A Dirty Diaper All Year

3 Min Read

Never at a loss for words, New York Jets wide receiver Brandon Marshall had some interesting things to say on Showtime’s ‘Inside the NFL’ regarding his team’s 5-11 season. In fact, Marshall compared it to a dirty diaper.

“The best way I can describe it is, having a diaper on and never changing it. And just sitting in that diaper the whole year,” Marshall said on the show which aired Tuesday night. “That’s how our year was. It was a bad year.”

As the Jets struggled, so did Marshall who had an underwhelming season lacking the productivity that many have been accustomed to seeing from him. Marshall’s tirades also seemed to irk his teammates. Marshall admitted “my timing was bad at times.”

“Sometimes you have to wait to Monday morning or Tuesday morning to have those types of conversations. So, I learned my lessons, some things blew up on my face. I’ll take that. I’ll chalk it up. And I will be a better person next year.”

Marshall had a publicized feud with teammate Sheldon Richardson that started when they had a heated exchange in the locker room in Week 3 and continued throughout the season. Richardson was openly critical of Marshall on a few occasions.

Marshall had this to say about some of Richardson’s comments:

“I have no ill will towards Sheldon. That’s my teammate. I think he is a hell of a player. And since the first day I stepped foot on campus this guy has done nothing but try to be the best person that he can be and the best football player he can be. The way I look at it, unless you’ve gone through it, I can’t explain the type of environment it is in a losing building. It’s so toxic.”

While Marshall has stated he would be willing to take a pay cut to remain with the team it is likely he could become a cap casualty as head coach Todd Bowles addresses the flawed team chemistry.

After a down year, tons of drama and at 32-years of age, Marshall’s tenure with the Jets may be on thin ice.
