UPDATE: 2/09/2017
Jaiden Woodbey is now a five star safety according to the new 247Sports Rankings for the class of 2018 that came out today. He ranks as the 26th best player nationally, the third best safety and the fourth best player in California.
Early into the 2018 recruiting cycle for Ohio State, he is the second five star recruit for the Buckeyes 2018 class. As it stands, they are second in the Big Ten and 11th nationally.
The wait is over. Four Star John Bosco High School safety Jaiden Woodbey has committed to the Ohio State Buckeyes over Nebraska Cornhuskers, Oklahoma Sooners, and USC Trojans. He announced the commitment Monday night at 8 pm EST/5 pm PST, February 6 on Twitter.
With Jaiden Woodbey’s commitment, Ohio State now has their third commit of the 2018 recruiting class and their only defensive recruit.
Woodbey has received a total of 20 offers and Ohio State and Urban Meyer get the nod for his services. In 2018, when he steps foot on Ohio State’s campus to get to work on the field, he’ll be up against defensive back competition on Ohio State’s roster that is more experienced than he is. He can still see playing time as a freshman if he impresses Urban Meyer and the defensive staff enough to earn snaps.
See his junior highlight film here.
As a junior this season, Woodbey won two championship games: the CIF Southern Section High School Football Playoff Championship vs Mater Dei Catholic in a 42-28 win and the CIF State Football Championship, winning 56-33 win against De La Salle High School.

In 2016, he recorded 70 tackles (48 solo), four interceptions, one pass defensed, one fumble recovery and one tackle for loss. Going into his senior year, he is definitely going to improve on his success the year before and surely not only be a leader in the secondary for the John Bosco Braves but a leader of the Braves defense as a whole. He is going to get some national spotlight as he committed to play at the 2018 Under Armour All-American Game and he was invited to play in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl.
Ohio State got a commitment from a stud out of California.
