St.Louis Blues Fire Ken Hitchcock, Mike Yeo To Take Over

2 Min Read

The St. Louis Blues were originally planning to make the coaching change after the conclusion of the 2016-2017 season, but plans have apparently changed amid a disappointing regular season. The team announced Wednesday morning that Ken Hitchcock had been relieved of his duties and that associate coach Mike Yeo was taking over for Hitchcock.

Yeo, who is the former coach of the Minnesota Wild, was hired with the stipulation that he would take over when Hitchcock retired after the season. Hitchcock was hired back in November 2011 is second all-time in wins for the franchise. Hitchcock’s 781 career regular-season wins rank fourth in NHL history.

Yeo, who was head coach for Minnesota from 2011-2016 and led them to three consecutive playoff appearances, had a 173-132-44 record with the franchise.

A look at Hitchcock’s career record, including Stanley Cup playoff wins and losses, per the St.Louis-Dispatch.
