Denver Broncos’ Jamaal Charles Feels ‘Back to Normal’

3 Min Read

When the Denver Broncos landed former Kansas City Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles in the offseason it didn’t come with the fanfare that it might have come with 2 years ago.

Injuries have derailed Charles’ career the past 2 seasons and limited him so much that the once elite Pro Bowl running back was expendable to the Chiefs. Charles only played in eight games the past two seasons because of knee injuries.

Now, looking for a resurrection in Denver, Charles is feeling back to normal.

“I am doing everything. I have been cutting the last couple of days with the guys during the offseason workouts. I feel like the way I am cutting that I am back to the normal me, man. It feels good to be moving around again,” said Charles per ABC 7 Denver.

“I have been knowing this the whole offseason (that the knee was fine). Nobody can take nothing away from me except God when my time is up. I am still 30 years old. I still have a lot of special stuff to do.”

Charles knows that there are doubters. Charles knows it’s hard for people to believe that given his age, 30, and his injury history, that he can achieve the level of production he did during his best years in Kansas City.

Charles is motivated and partly due to a departure from the Chiefs that he admits “stung”.

“When people say you can’t do something, you want to prove them wrong. That’s always been on my mind since I signed with the Broncos,” Charles said.

“The last time I had to prove people wrong was when I came back from ACL (surgery) and when I came back from hurting myself here in Denver (on Sept. 14, 2014). We played New England (next) and I had an incredible game (92 yards rushing, 15 receiving, three touchdowns). I like proving people wrong. It keeps the fire going, it keeps the spark going. I am excited about just getting back to where I was before.”

Charles is certainly brimming with confidence and maybe a change of scenery is what he needs to get back on track.

For now, it’s all sunshine in Denver as Jamaal Charles works to get back to form.
