Brave CF is heading to Curitiba, Brazil in August and unfortunately number one contender Lucas Mineiro won’t be a part of it. The Chute Boxe fighter underwent surgery for a broken hand and won’t be able to compete at the event.
Chute Boxe Head Coach Diego Lima said that Mineiro hopes to fight champion Elias Boudegzdame in December. Elias was crowned the first ever Brave CF Featherweight champion when he submitted UFC veteran Masio Fullen in the first round.
Mineiro flew to Abu Dhabi to attend the event front row and was ready to face off with the newly crowned champion. In the face-off he intensely said the words “My belt” multiple times to Elias, determined to dethrone him.
When asked what he thought of the Boudegzdame versus Fullen fight, he wasn’t too surprised with the outcome.
“Elias is a great athlete and is very good at Jiu-Jitsu,” Mineiro said. “I knew he could finish the fight at any moment.”
Elias has finished 12 of his 14 pro wins by the way of submission and has finished all 14 of his professional fights. Mineiro made his Brave CF debut back in March when he submitted Fabian Galvan in the second round in front of his home crowd.
Mineiro, who embodies the technical aggression of Chute Boxe is confident that the fight won’t go the distance.
“It’s going to be a big fight between Elias and I and I’m sure it will not last five rounds,” Mineiro said. “He knows I can knock him out at any moment and I’m going to put all my pressure on him. Elias has a great Jiu-Jitsu so I know he’s going to want to work where he likes.”
For now, there is no set date on when the two will compete. It seems that Mineiro won’t be able to compete until December and it is unknown whether the promotion decides to seek another challenger in the meantime. One thing is for sure, Mineiro is coming for the belt no matter who holds the crown.
