Shabazz Muhammad Staying In Minnesota And Other Notes From Tuesday

3 Min Read

Shabazz Muhammad is going to be staying in Minnesota to play for the Timberwolves for the veterans minimum salary of $1.6 million according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN. Muhammad has been a member of the Timberwolves all four seasons that he has been in the NBA, but he entered free agency this offseason as a restricted free agent and then became an unrestricted free agent when the T-Wolves renounced his rights to free up cap room. Meaning he could sign with any team and the Timberwolves would not be able to match any offer sheet.

Muhammad has been pretty inconsistent during his four seasons in the league and he has not shown the ability to be the scorer that people thought he was going to be when he went to UCLA out of high school. He has still been a serviceable player and with Jimmy Butler being added to the team he will have even less pressure on him to try and score.

Former New York Knick Charles Oakley has filed a civil suit against James Dolan and MSG as a result of his forced removal from a Knicks home game back in February according to Victoria Bekiempis and Stephen Rex Brown of the New York Daily News. The Knicks have called the lawsuit “frivolous” and an attempt to garner attention tweets Ian Begley of ESPN.

The Brooklyn Nets signed center Tyler Zeller to a two-year contract, the team announced via their website. Over his 5-year career Zeller has been a nice player, doing his best work in Boston over the past three seasons, but he is not going to be the type of player to really make any big change to the Nets’ win total.

A press conference was scheduled to be held in Seattle to announce a plan to restore Key Arena to try and bring the NHL to the city, but also to try and bring the NBA back to the city. However, that press conference was cancelled after the now former mayor Ed Murray resigned amid allegations of sexual abuse. It will be interesting to see where the charge to bring the NBA back to Seattle goes from here.
