Robot Built By Toyota Engineers Sink Flawless Free Throws

1 Min Read

A group of engineers from Toyota took considerable free time to build a robot that is capable of shooting perfect free throws.

So much for ‘Hack-a-Shaq’.

Once the robot was built they challenged professional human basketball players, besting them in the shot-for-shot competition.

Japanese news agency Asahi Shimgun says that AI was used to teach the robot how to shoot and in the video you can see the robot moving around and executing some pretty solid shooting form.

“To win the game, [a machine] just has to make fewer mistakes than humans” Garry Kasparov said. “Which is not that difficult since humans are humans and vulnerable, and we don’t have the same steady hand as the computer.”
