The 2018 NFL Draft in Arlington, Texas is only eight days away. On Thursday, April 26, 2018 the Cleveland Browns will make the first selection to kick off the three-day event. But, ever wondered how picks are distributed for round one? ? Here’s how.

First, after the regular season, the final NFL standings are revealed. The 20 teams with the worst record and missed the playoffs. Then picks 21-24 will be awarded to the team who lose on Wildcard Weekend. Next picks 25-28 are awarded to the teams that lose in the divisional round. After that the 29th and 30th picks are for those teams that lose the conference championship. Finally, the Super Bowl loser will get the 31st pick and the Super Bowl champions will get the 32nd selection.

In the first round, when a team is on the clock, the selecting team has 10 minutes to make a pick. After 10 minutes, if a selection is not made, they can send a pick late, but they could lose the player they wanted.
