CBS Ready to Give Tony Romo ‘Substantial’ Raise to Remain with Network

3 Min Read

CBS knows that Tony Romo is on fire in the broadcast booth as their lead analyst, and generating a lot of interest in the process.

According to The New York Post’s Andrew Marchand, CBS “is prepared to give Romo a substantial raise”, who has one year left on his deal and currently makes around $4 million annually.

Not only has Romo generated interest from CBS rivals, but potentially also from teams trying to lure him back to the playing field.

According to The Athletic’s Richard Deitsch, Romo eluded to potential offers from NFL teams looking to bring him back to the field.

“There are legitimate contract offers and there are, ‘Hey, what are you thinking?'” Romo said when asked about contract offers from NFL teams.

CBS has the right to match any offer that Romo receives, so he is likely staying put at the network.

Romo’s insight has been a valuable edition to the broadcasting team at CBS, and his ability to forecast an upcoming play, which is often times uncanny, has separated him from other analysts.

Romo will be a part of the team calling the Super Bowl this year, and as the Super Bowl betting odds heat up ahead of the matchup, Romo will be a voice to listen to as the Los Angeles Rams battle the New England Patriots for the Lombardi Trophy.

Romo’s performance during the Super Bowl will likely do more to increase his projected value as a broadcaster, and perhaps motive even more NFL teams to come calling about a potential return to the field to quarterback their team in the 2019 season.

Romo, for now, seems committed to his job as an analyst, but there will continue to be speculation, and hope, that an NFL team with a dire need at quarterback, and perhaps a solid veteran signal caller away from a legit Super Bowl run, can lure him back for one more shot at and NFL championship.

Catch Romo on Super Bowl Sunday, where he will likely continue to shine.
