VIDEO: Malik McDowell Fights Police After Being Tased

3 Min Read

Former NFL and Seattle Seahawks defensive tackle, and once a promising prospect, Malik McDowell is in hot water following an arrest earlier this year, and a new video shows McDowell attempting to avoid arrest, and battling it out with cops in a convenient store.

McDowell, 23, was pulled over in Lathrup Village, Michigan, back in February of this year after his jeep spun out on the road after McDowell was speeding.

According to TMZ Sports, McDowell had a BAC of .189, which is two times the legal limit.

Police stopped McDowell in front of a gas station/convenient store and order that the 6’6, 300 pound defensive lineman remain seated in his car, but McDowell disobeyed and demanded to speak with a supervisor.

As police continued to engage McDowell, he attempted to leave his vehicle and walk into the gas station’s convenient story. Police attempted to grab McDowell, ordering him to put his hands behind his back, but McDowell disobeyed and began fighting back police officers inside the store.

McDowell was warned by officers several times to stand down or he would risk being tased, demanding that McDowell get down on his stomach on the floor.

McDowell refuses and police tase him, and that’s when things get completely insane.

McDowell violently fights back officers, causing destruction to the store in the process, and allegedly even grabbed for an officer’s gun during the scrum.

McDowell was eventually charged with 2 counts of felony assaulting and resisting, 1 misdemeanor count of operating while intoxicated and misdemeanor driving on a suspended license.

This isn’t McDowell’s first run in with the law, as he is also accused of concealing a stolen truck back in April of this year.

McDowell was arraigned in May, and is due back in court later this month.

As for his NFL career, it seems to be in serous danger. The Seahawks released McDowell last July following an ATV accident in which McDowell suffered a concussion and multiple facial injuries.

McDowell is currently a free agent.
