The start of Ryan Mallett’s career in the XFL has not gotten off on the right foot.
According to TMZ Sports, Mallett was arrested on Tuesday in Arkansas for driving while intoxicated after he crashed his car.
Mallett, 31, was involved in a two-car collision in Sprindale around 6:30 PM EST when his car crossed over the center line while driving, according to officials.
Police say that Mallett blew a .08.
Mallett was also cited for careless prohibited driving for his swaying over the center line.
At this time, Mallett has not issued an official comment regarding the arrest or the incident, and the XFL has not chimed in regarding their position on Mallett’s arrest.
XFL owner Vince McMahon stated that he would ban any players with a criminal record from playing in the league that is slated to official reboot in 2020, so it will be interesting to see how they react to Mallett’s arrest.
Mallett is a former 3rd round pick of the New England Patriots and also played with the Houston Texans and the Baltimore Ravens before fading out of the NFL.
