Bengals’ Tyler Boyd Says ‘We got embarrassed’

2 Min Read

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Tyler Boyd isn’t mincing words when talking about the Bengals’ blowout loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday Night Football.

“We got embarrassed,” Boyd said, according to ESPN’s Ben Baby. “Straight like that. It sucks.”

The two winless teams took to Heinz Field in Pittsburgh where the Steelers dominated en route to a 27-3 blowout victory to notch their first win of the season and to drop the Bengals to 0-4 thus far in the 2019 campaign.

“We didn’t expect to be an 0-4 team, but that’s what we are right now,” Taylor said. “There’s no excuses we can make.”

The loss continues a downward spiral for the Bengals, who have lost 13 of their past 15 games, covering the span of the firing of former long-time head coach Marvin Lewis.

Lewis’ successor, Zac Taylor, who spent two seasons as an assistant coach for the Los Angeles Rams, took his fair share of blame for the loss.

“To be quite honest, it starts with me,” Taylor said. “I’ve got to make sure the standard is higher than what it is right now because I haven’t done a good enough job and there’s certainly things that I’ve got to improve on.”

“Right now we don’t have that winning feeling,” Taylor said. “We’ve got to get that before we talk about anything else that goes on this season.”

“We gotta get wins,” Bengals’ Dre Kirkpatrick said. “They don’t pay me to lose, you know what I’m saying? That s— is unacceptable to me. I don’t know how everybody else feels about it, but you gotta feel a certain type of way.”

The Bengals now pay the winless Arizona Cardinals (0-3-1) on Sunday.
