Nationals Offered Anthony Rendon Massive Seven-Year Contract

The Washington Nationals are looking to ensure that superstar third baseman Anthony Rendon doesn’t hit free agency, risking that they may lose him sometime over the offseason, and ponied up a helluva deal to entice him to buy-in long-term.

According to the Washington Post, the Nationals offered Rendon a seven-year deal worth $210 million to $215 million.

Rendon, who inked a one-year, $18.8 million deal prior to the season, had a career-best season in 2019. hitting .319 with 34 home runs and 126 RBIs for Washington, leading the National League in RBIs and his 1.010 OPS was third in the National League.

Washington’s postseason begins on Tuesday night when they host the Milwaukee Brewers in a National League Wild-Card Game.
