Jalen Ramsey ‘Overjoyed’ to Join Rams

3 Min Read

Los Angeles Rams’ new star cornerback Jalen Ramsey is “overjoyed” that he was traded to the Rams from the Jacksonville Jaguars earlier this week in a blockbuster deal.

The Rams sent their first round picks in 2020 and 2021, along with a 2021 fourth round draft pick to the Jags in exchange for Ramsey, a two-time Pro Bowler and All-Pro corner.

“Big, big day for me,” Ramsey said, during an appearance on Uninterrupted’s ’17 Weeks’ Podcast on SiriusXM. “I’m currently just walking outside right now, I’m filled with joy, I’m overjoyed right now. God is the greatest, God makes no mistakes at all. No mistakes at all. I’ve been so blessed.”

The end of Ramsey’s tenure with the Jags was a bit contentious of late, as he demanded a trade out of Jacksonville, however Ramsey shows nothing but appreciation for the team that drafted him back in 2016.

“I was so blessed to be drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars,” Ramsey said, adding, “But now I’ve got a new chapter starting in my life, going out to L.A. and going to be a part of the L.A. Rams.”

Rams general manager Les Snead said that Ramsey’s status for Sunday’s tilt against the Atlanta Falcons is up in the air at the moment.

“Don’t know how much he’s been doing” Snead said, according to ESPN’s Lindsey Thiry. We’ve got to get him here and analyze. … It’s TBD.”

Snead also spoke on the skillset that Ramsey brings to the table, highlighting Ramsey’s length, running ability, agility, “short-area quickness” and confidence.

“There are only a few players like that. He happens to be one of them,” Snead said.

“Excited to be a part of that defense,” Ramsey said, who added his excitement to play for Rams’ defensive coordinator Wade Phillips, and the rest of the Rams’ coaching staff.

“Coach Wade Phillips, coach Sean McVay, coach Aubrey Pleasant, and I’m excited to get out there and do my thing for the LA Rams and show them that they’ve got the best corner in the whole NFL for years and years to come.”

The Rams will now have to hope they can re-sign Ramsey, who is in the final year of his rookie deal, this upcoming offseason.
