Pelicans’ Zion Williamson Out 6-8 Weeks Following Knee Surgery

1 Min Read

New Orleans Pelicans’ superstar Zion Williamson, the number one overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft, will miss anywhere from 6 to 8 weeks after undergoing surgery Monday to repair a torn meniscus in his right knee, the team announced.

Pelicans’ head coach Alvin Gentry said that the team believed Williamson suffered the injury during a preseason game on against the San Antonio Spurs last Sunday.

Williamson missed time in summer league after he banged his left knee in a collision with another player, and was ultimately shut down for the summer.

Williamson was averaging 23.3 points and 6.5 rebounds for New Orleans over four preseason games.
