Yankees’ CC Sabathia Left off of Playoff Roster

1 Min Read

New York Yankees legendary pitcher CC Sabathia was left off of the roster for the American League Division Series, Yankees’ manager Aaron Boone said on Thursday.

Boone also announced that James Paxton will be the Game 1 starter as the Yankees face the Minnesota Twins in Game 1. Paxton will be followed by Masahiro Tanaka in Game 2, and then Luis Severino for Game 3 of the series.

Paxton had been on a hot streak to end the season, a career high 10 straight wins, but has never pitched in the postseason.

“I’ve been talking to teammates, asking them what it’s been like pitching in the postseason,” Paxton said (h/t ESPN).

The full Yankee roster for the ALDS will be officially announced on Friday.
