The San Francisco 49ers have placed veteran tight end Jordan Reed on the short-termed injured reserve, according to NBC Sports Bay Area’s Matt Maiocco.
Reed, 30, was sidelined during the 49ers victory over the New York Giants with an ankle injury, and ultimately returned to the field before sustaining an MCL injury.
According to head coach Kyle Shanahan, the team expects Reed back in the lineup in 6-8 weeks time.
Reed has notched 11 receptions for 85 yards and two scores for the 49ers this season.
