New York Jets veteran backup quarterback Joe Flacco has been medically cleared to participate fully in practice on Wednesday, according to the New York Daily News’ Manish Mehta.

Flacco, a former Super Bowl MVP, will now enter his first season as a backup, having been a starter for the Baltimore Ravens and the Denver Broncos prior to signing with the Jets to serve as the backup to Sam Darnold.

Flacco, 35, gives the Jets some insurance if Darnold, who has missed time in the past, goes down with injury.
