The Tampa Bay Buccaneers has acquired defensive tackle Steve McLendon from the New York Jets in a Sunday evening trade, according to the Tampa Bay Times’ Rick Stroud.
The Jets completed the trade only a few short hours following their loss to the Miami Dolphins, and will receive a sixth-round pick in 2022 while sending the Bucs a seventh-round pick in 2023 as part of the deal.
According to the New York Post’s Brian Costello, McLendon’s departure will certainly impact the locker room given his leadership and being one of the more vocal players in the Jets locker room.
Tampa Bay now finds some relief following the season ending injury to defensive tackle Vita Vea.
