Jaguars’ Gardner Minshew Has Multiple Fractures, Strained Ligament in Thumb

Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Gardner Minshew reportedly has multiple fractures and a strained ligament in his right thumb, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Per the report, Minshew had been dealing with the injuries since the Jags’ loss to the Houston Texans back on October 11th, but the team was not informed of his discomfort until this week.

With Jacksonville on a bye in Week 8, there is still time to see if Minshew can be ready to roll against the Texans in Week 9.

If not, the Jags would then turn to Mike Glennon, and with Jaguars head coach Doug Marrone recently hinting at a quarterback change ahead of last week’s tilt against the Los Angeles Chargers, it could be an audition for Glennon to take over the starting duties moving forward, even when Minshew makes his return.

The Jaguars also have third-string quarterback Jake Luton, but he is considered to be a raw prospect, however if Glennon struggles and Minshew is hurt, he may get a shot later on down the line this season.
