Saints Sitting Michael Thomas Following Altercation with Teammate

1 Min Read

The New Orleans Saints are sitting superstar wide receiver Michael Thomas for their Monday Night Football tilt against the Los Angeles Chargers following an altercation with a teammate.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Thomas had an altercation with a teammate during practice over the weekend and is being benched as a form of discipline.

Thomas had been working his way back from an ankle injury, and was tracking to play on Monday, but now the Saints will have to play without him.

According to NFT Network insider Tom Pelissero, Thomas reportedly punched Saints safety Chauncey Gardner-Johnson during a fight.

According to ESPN’s Josina Anderson, the altercation took place on Friday, and Thomas was asked to leave practice. Thomas would then meet with Saints head coach Sean Payton on Sunday, and was fined for conduct detrimental to the team and told he wouldn’t be playing Monday.

Thomas is expected to rejoin the team sometime next week.
