Tua Tagovailoa Likely Out with Thumb Injury, Ryan Fitzpatrick Set to Start

1 Min Read

Miami Dolphins rookie quarterback Tua Tagovailoa is likely going to miss the Dolphins Week 12 tilt against the New York Jets due to a thumb injury, according to NFL Network insider Mike Garafolo.

While nothing is broken in Tagovailoa’s injured thumb, which is on his throwing hand, there is swelling and weakness, so the Dolphins will be playing it safe and sit him against the Jets.

With Tagovailoa out, the Dolphins will turn to veteran Ryan Fitzpatrick, who was the team’s starter for 6 games this season, before losing the job to Tagovailoa.

Fitzpatrick has thrown for 1,535 yards, 10 touchdowns, and seven interceptions, and has posted a 3-3 record over his six starts for the Dolphins this season.
