Jim Kelly Talks Josh Allen Breaking His Records with Bills

2 Min Read

Buffalo Bills legendary quarterback, and Hall of Famer, Jim Kelly is widely regarded as one of the best quarterbacks the franchise has ever seen, but the emergence of Josh Allen has placed him in that very conversation, especially as Allen is closing in on a number of Kelly’s franchise records.

In fact, Allen has been putting up MVP numbers this season, and has the Bills poised for a playoff run this season.

“I’m excited, because if he’s breaking my records that means we’re winning,” Kelly said, according to the Associated PRess.

“I’ll put it this way, if Josh Allen is with us for 10-plus years, he will be breaking his own records,” Kelly said. “I pull for him every time. … I’m like a little kid.”

Kelly has been in communication with Allen, mostly by text messages, but says that he doesn’t want to distract Allen from his impressive season in Buffalo.

“He doesn’t need me in his ear, so I pretty much leave him alone,” Kelly said.

Allen has topped Kelly’s single-season records for combined touchdowns (39) and surpassed his single-season passing yards mark. Allen is behind Drew Bledsoe’s 2002 mark, short only 359 passing yards with 2 games to play.
