Paul George Talks New Contract with Clippers

1 Min Read

It’s a big gamble that has been highly criticized on social media, but the Los Angeles Clippers are investing in forward Paul George being a core member for years to come.

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Clippers are extending George’s contract for an additional four years at $190 million on top of the $35.4 million guaranteed him for the 2020-21 season, a max contract that guarantees him as much as $226 million over the next five years.

“I was just confident in myself and where I wanted to be” George said to members of the media following the signing (h/t ClutchPoints). “I left everything else in their hands where they make the decision, at the end of the day. I love being here, I love the family that I’ve created in my first year.

“This is where I want to be. This is home. I’m at home, and I want to build something, a real foundation, and ultimately, this is where my legacy, where I want to leave the biggest imprint on.”
