Prior to landing with the Buffalo Bills, wide receiver Stefon Diggs was a topic of conversation on a trade market that could have seen him sent to the Houston Texans.

Could of, but not really.

According to Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer, when the Texans were looking to move superstar wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins, who would eventually end up with the Arizona Cardinals, a potential swap with the Minnesota Vikings for Diggs bubbled up, albeit briefly.

“Last year, when the Texans were looking to move DeAndre Hopkins, rumblings of a Hopkins-for-Stefon Diggs deal bubbled up briefly” the report said. “The Vikings weren’t interested, for a variety of reasons (money was a big one.) Instead, Minnesota wound up with a draft-pick haul for Diggs, and the first-round pick became Justin Jefferson.”

Diggs, at the time, was pushing for an exit from the organization, which was granted, and recently spoke about his desire to leave Minnesota.

“(The Vikings) were kind of gearing towards a run-heavy (offense) at that time,” Diggs said over the weekend (h/t The Viking Age).  “I didn’t know it going in. I didn’t know it was going to be that way. They only would allow me to do so much. In my eyes, it wasn’t going to be in the best interest of my career.”

Diggs was specifically upset, feeling misled about the Vikings’ offense when he signed a contract extension.

“People were kind of, I’m not going to say peeing on me and telling me that it’s raining, that’s a little bit harsh. But once you don’t have trust with the person. It’s hard to do business.”
