Jazz, Rudy Gobert Contract Negotiations Hit Snag

The Utah Jazz and star center Rudy Gobert have been discussing a supermax contract extension that would ensure that the defensive standout would remain in Utah for years to come.

However, negotiations have apparently hit a snag.

According to ESPN’s Porter Larsen, Gobert asked the Jazz to fulfill the supermax contract he is eligible for, which was 35% of the cap, but the Jazz responded with an offer of the normal max, which was 28% of the cap.

Gobert’s camp reportedly rejected the offer, and the two sides now have a few days to come to an agreement on a supermax contract extension.  Negotiations can continue into the regular season, but a supermax extension officially comes off the board on December 22nd.

While they are seemingly far apart on what they are looking for, there is reason to believe that the Jazz and Gobert’s reps will come to an agreement sometimes soon.
