Panthers Releasing Kawann Short

1 Min Read

The Carolina Panthers will be releasing two-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle Kawann Short, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Short is considered to be one of the Panthers’ best defensive players, but has only played in 5 games over the past two seasons, as he has needed season-ending shoulder surgeries in each of the last two campaigns.

Short was heading into the final year of a five-year, $80 million contract he signed in 2017, after playing at an elite level that saw him pile up 23.5 sacks over a three year span. However, due to injuries, Short has only mustered 3 sacks, all during the 2018 season, since that time.

Short will likely draw interest from the Buffalo Bills as soon as he hits the free agent market.
