The New York Yankees are considering keeping both veteran first baseman Jay Bruce and outfielder Mike Tauchman for the final bench spots on their roster heading into the regular season, according to SNY’s Andy Martino.

Instead of DFAing Tauchman, which would risk them losing him on waivers, the Yankees are considering optioning veteran infielder Tyler Wade. The Yankees have been trying out Gio Urshela at shortstop just in case he needs to server as a reserve infielder in emergency situations.

Additionally, in the even that both Bruce and Tauchman make the final roster, Brett Gardner and catcher Kyle Higasjioka would make up the rest of the bench alignment.
