The San Francisco 49ers have agreed to terms with veteran free agent safety Tony Jefferson, who has not played since 2019 when he suffered a torn ACL that also cost him the 2020 season, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

“I was really getting into a groove with my workouts and my rehab,” Jefferson said of his rehab, which was slowed by the pandemic, back in April. “Now, I’m waiting two or three weeks just to get a medicine ball.”

Jefferson, 29, signed a four-year, $34 million contract with the Baltimore Ravens in free agency back in 2017, and would go on to start all 35 games up until 2019. Baltimore released Jefferson back in February 2020, but his injury prevented him from landing a new contract with another team.
