2 Min Read

On Monday, Misfits Gaming Group officially announced a new partnership with with digital collectibles developer Fanaply, which will lead to the release four sets of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) celebrating their Call of Duty League (CDL) franchise team, the Florida Mutineers. The deal sent a strong signal that NFTs are becoming a more common asset in the industry for esports teams and organizations.

“We wanted to find a unique way to celebrate our Call of Duty team Florida Mutineers in the 2021 Call of Duty World Championship with our amazing fans. NFTs in particular present an engaging and exciting way to support our teams with true digital ownership of a historic moment” Lagen Nash, CRO – Misfits Gaming Group said, in an exclusive interview with Sports Rants.

“The Mutineers’ dedicated fans have always told us they want new ways to participate and get involved. We’ve listened and explored NFTs as a way to extend ownership in this celebratory moment in the team’s history. NFTs really do provide a unique opportunity to engage loyal fans and we’re excited to see how they’ll respond.”

NFTs are certainly making their way into the esports sector, but that’s not all that Misfits Gaming Group has in store for 2021.

“We’re focused on building upon our current success competitively as our LEC team, Misfits Gaming, is working to qualify for the League of World Championship” Nash said of the organization’s plans. “We also have quite a few plans regarding new and exciting partnerships as well as our plans to help support companies attempting to innovate in the esports space.
