Are the Denver Broncos For Real?

2 Min Read

Five teams in the NFL have started the 2021 season at 3-0. The most surprising of which has been the Denver Broncos.

The Broncos 3-0 start is fantastic for a team that wasn’t expected to do much. They finished 5-11 last year, and Head Coach Vic Fangio was thought to be on the hot seat. They also had a quarterback battle during training camp between Drew Lock and Teddy Bridgewater.

Bridgewater ended up winning the battle and has played well. He has thrown for 827 yards, four touchdowns, and zero interceptions. His play is one of the main reasons for Denver’s fast start.

The defense has played well in the first three weeks. They have given up 26 points through three games and gave up zero in week three. The Broncos held their last two opponents to under 200 total yards of offense. They have caused five turnovers with four interceptions and a fumble. Von Miller looks to be back with four sacks to start the season.

The only issue with the Broncos 3-0 start is the teams they played in those games. They beat the Jaguars, Giants, and the Jets, who may be the worst teams to start the season.

While the Broncos have no control over how the schedule is made, it does bring on the question of if the Broncos are for real. The Jets and Jaguars, in particular, played with rookie quarterbacks, who have struggled out of the gate. The team will probably not be thought of as a contender until they perform well against a team who is.

They will get that chance in week four when the Baltimore Ravens travel to Denver. If they perform well against them, the Broncos will be thought of as a serious threat. If not, the narrative will be that of a team that got to 3-0 because of a soft schedule to start.
