Packers’ Whitney Mercilus Makes Return at Practice

1 Min Read

The Green Bay Packers got an unexpected surprise when veteran pass-rusher Whitney Mercilus made his unexpected return to practice on Thursday after it was thought that he would miss the remainder of the season after tearing his biceps against the Seattle Seahawks back on November 14th, according to ESPN’s Rob Demovsky.

Mercilus, 31, signed with Green Bay back on October 21st with the hopes of winning a title, shortly after his release from the Houston Texans, and was placed on injured reserve on November 16th with the assumption being that he was done for the season.

“That’s a tough one,” Packers head coach Matt LaFleur said at the time. “Man, I feel bad for him. Shoot, he would’ve had potentially a second sack right there [on the play on which he was injured]. Just the stability he brings to that room, and this guy’s a pro’s pro. He’s been doing this at a very high level for a long time. It’s just one of those unfortunate things that happen.”
