Washington Wizards superstar Bradley Beal has officially declined his $36.4 million player option for the 2022-2023 NBA season, his agent Mark Bartelstein of Priority Sports said, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Beal, 28, will now entertain two options in the near future: sign a five-year max contract with the Wizards, where he has spent his entire career, or opt to join a new team on a four-year max contract, the most he can sign with another team.
Beal averaged 23.2 points, 4.7 rebounds and 6.6 assists in 40 games for the Wizards last season, a season that was ended early when he underwent wrist surgery in February.
