The Denver Nuggets and superstar big man Nikola Jokic have agreed to a five-year, $270 million supermax contract extension, the largest contract in NBA history, his agents, Jeff Schwartz and Mike Lindeman of Excel Sports said, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Jokic is now locked in with the Nuggets for six-years and $303 million, and his new deal includes a player option and a trade kicker. Jokic’s contract will officially kick in during the 2023-24 season at $46.6 million and climb every season until 2027-28, when Jokic is set to make $61.5 million.
Jokic, 27, averaged 27.1 points, 13.8 rebounds and 7.9 assists for the Nuggets last season, winning his second consecutive MVP award and becoming the 15th player to win at least two MVP awards in his career and the 10th to win them in consecutive seasons.
