The Philadelphia Phillies have placed starting pitcher Zack Wheeler on the injured 15-day injured list, retroactive to August 22nd, due to tendinitis in his right forearm.
With Wheeler out, the Phillies are expected to give the ball to Bailey Falter to take the mound on Friday.
Phillies president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski told reporters that Wheeler was willing to pitch through the issue, but the organization hopes that skipping a pair of starts will get him back on track (via Alex Coffey of the Philadelphia Inquirer and Todd Zolecki of MLB.com).
Wheeler has pitched to the tune of a 3.07 ERA this season.
