Cowboys Hire Brian Schottenheimer as Offensive Coordinator

1 Min Read

The Dallas Cowboys have officially hired Brian Schottenheimer as their new offensive coordinator, according to an official announcement issued on Saturday.

The hiring of Schottenheimer comes in the wake of the departure of  previous offensive coordinator Kellen Moore last week, with Cowboys owner Jerry Jones stating that head coach Mike McCarthy would be calling the plays on offense next season.

Schottenheimer, 49, spent last season as a consultant with the Cowboys, and is the son of longtime NFL coach Marty Schottenheimer.

Moore wouldn’t be out of work for long as he joined the Los Angeles Chargers as their new offensive coordinator.

“I am very happy to have Brian take on this key role with our team,” McCarthy said (h/t ESPN). “He has been an important part of our staff already and has a great grasp of where we are and where we want to go.”
