JJ Watt Shoots Down Rumors Ending Retirement to Play for Steelers

J.J. Watt

The dreams of Pittsburgh Steeler fans to see former All-Pro defensive end JJ Watt end his retirement so that he could join their team and play alongside his All-Pro linebacker brother TJ, were shot down, ending a little bit of the sports talk app buzz that had been building the last few weeks.

Watt addressed the rumors during a recent appearance on Barstool’s Pardon My Take sports talk podcasts, ending any talk of him ending his retirement from playing.

“No. I will not be playing for the Pittsburgh Steelers,” Watt said, via Trib Live’s Tim Benz. I will be going to a game at (Acrisure Stadium) to watch my brother play,” he added.  “The Steelers fans are really one of the best fan bases I’ve ever witnessed in my life. Everywhere I go, ‘Hey I love you, but I’m a huge Steelers fan, so I love your brother. Hey, come to the Steelers.’”

Watt, who ended his 12 year playing career following the conclusion of last season, last played for the Arizona Cardinals, finishing his career with 114.5 total sacks along with 586 combined career tackles.
