Nuggets’ Jamal Murray Discusses Last-Second Shot Attempt in Game 2

2 Min Read

The Denver Nuggets are coming off a shocking loss to the Miami Heat in Game 2 of the NBA Finals that saw Miami use a surging fourth quarter to pull off the upset on the road in Denver where the Nuggets hadn’t lost all post-season.

Towards the end of the close game, in the final seconds, Nuggets guard Jamal Murray took a contested three-point in attempt to tie the game and send it to overtime. The shot, a step back three-pointer, rimmed out, and left many Nuggets fans criticizing Murray’s shot decision in crunch time.

Nuggets head coach Mike Malone did not draw up a play for the final shot, which has also yielded some criticism, and Murray spoke about it during the Game 2 post-game presser.

“I think you guys see me hit that shout enough. It was a good look, just didn’t go down” Murray said (via NBA.com).

Murray and the Nuggets will be looking to get back on track with the NBA Finals tied 1-1 and now shifting to Miami. The Nuggets will be hoping that Murray can continue his stellar play during the playoffs where he’s been averaging 27.0 points, 6.6 assists, 5.4 rebounds, and 1.6 steals a game while shooting 48.0% from the field and 39.1% from three-point land.
