Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeVonta Smith revealed his odd pre-game ritual during an appearance on ‘The Pivot Podcast’ with Ryan Clark, Fred Taylor, and Channing Crowder that will leave Eagle fans a bit perplexed.
“I don’t need a lot of sleep. I get four hours of sleep, I’m good. All I need is four hours. If I get a full eight hours, I ain’t gonna be worth nothing the next day,” Smith said during the appearance on one of the popular sports talk podcasts.
Smith’s pre-game nutrition ritual is also different from what may be expected from a pro athlete, who may digest fitness streams or get in a workout on game-day. Smith, however, does something completely different.
If it’s a home game, I’m going to McDonald’s. I’m not even gonna lie to you, I get a McGriddle, two hash browns, and an orange juice. I gotta have it,” Smith said.
Whatever Smith has been doing has worked as he has hauled in 159 receptions for 2,112 yards and 12 touchdowns during his first two seasons in the league, something that Eagles fans are hoping can continue this upcoming season.
