Chargers Looking to Get Back On Track Following 0-2 Start

2 Min Read

The Los Angeles Chargers are certainly feeling the pressure following a surprising 0-2 start to the season which has been highlighted by the same defensive struggles and late-game mishaps that have been a staple of head coach Brandon Staley’s tenure, but the team is not letting it tear apart the locker room.

“Panicking is never gonna fix anything,” Chargers franchise quarterback Justin Herbert said, according to ESPN’s Kris Rhim. “And so, you know, it’s up to us to be able to fix that as an offense and score more points. And you know, we believe in the defense, and sometimes we’re gonna score a bunch of points. Sometimes, we’re not, but it’s up to us as a team to play together.”

Despite Staley’s background as a defensive mind during his time with the Los Angeles Rams that led him to being hired as the Chargers head coach in 2021, Staley’s performance has been a cause of concern and has led many fans to call for his firing.

The Chargers have allowed the most passing yards in the NFL (666).

“Definitely been frustrating,” Chargers safety Derwin James said. “We haven’t gotten the results that we wanted, but we will keep working hard. We’re not panicking. We’re not quitting, you know, turning our back on each other.”

The Chargers will look to get their first win of the season when they take on the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday. The Vikings are also looking for their first win of the season.
