Lakers Sign Christian Wood

1 Min Read

The Los Angeles Lakers have bolstered their front court by signing veteran free agent big man Christian Wood to a two-year, $5.7 million contract that includes a player option for the 2024-25 season, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

Woods, 27, who sat on the free agent market following a stint with the Dallas Mavericks, now heads to the Lakers with an opportunity to rebuild his value before hitting the free agency market again potentially in 2024-2025.

Wood averaged 16.6 points and 7.3 rebounds per game for the Mavericks last season and had a standout performance in a Christmas Day victory over the Lakers in which he scored 30 points, grabbed 8 rebounds, and snatched 4 steals.

Additionally, Wood has averaged 38% on 3-pointers over the past four seasons and gives the Lakers a big who can help stretch the floor.
