Yankees’ Anthony Rizzo Out For Remainder of Season

1 Min Read

The New York Yankees are shutting down veteran first baseman Anthony Rizzo for the remainder of the season after suffering a concussion earlier this season, according to YES Network’s Meredith Marakovits.

Rizzo, 34, has been dealing with post-concussion syndrome. Rizzo admitted that the Yankees medical team did everything correctly in handling his concussion, but it somehow initially went undetected.

Rizzo suffered the injury when he collided with San Diego Padres’ star Fernando Tatis back in May. Rizzo continued to play into June, entering the month hitting .300 but was not the same at the plate.

Rizzo is expected to make a full recovery and be able to return to the field for the 2024 season, which will be the final year on his current contract.
