The Arizona Cardinals have placed the franchise tag on outside linebacker Chandler Jones. The move doesn’t come as a surprise mainly because Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians suggested in early January that it was unlikely that the Cardinals would let the linebacker to hit the open market.
Chandler’s representatives and the Cardinals have until July 15th to negotiate a multi-year contract. If the two sides fail to reach an agreement then Jones will play under the linebacker tender worth roughly $14.129 million for 2017.
Arizona acquired Jones from the New England Patriots last March.
