The Philadelphia Phillies and shortstop Didi Gregorius have agreed to a two-year, $28 million deal that keeps the veteran in Philadelphia moving forward, according to ESPN.
Gregorius, 30, inked a one-year, $14 million deal with the Phillies prior to last season, following his tenure with the New York Yankees that ended after an injury plagued 2019 season. Gregorius proved to be one of the better bargain pickups of free agency.
Gregorius hit .284 with 10 home runs, 40 RBIs and 34 runs scored to go along with a .827 OPS during the pandemic shortened season.
During the past five seasons Gregorius is tied for fourth with Xander Bogaerts among all major league shortstops in home runs (98), which trails only Trevor Story (134), Francisco Lindor (126) and Javier Baez (108).
